'Loving' Film Screening: Black History Month

‘Loving’ Film Screening: Black History Month

Join the TRUSU Equity Committee as we mark Black History Month and Valentine’s Day by hosting a showing of the film Loving! Loving tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, a couple whose US Supreme Court case invalidated state laws banning interracial marriage, and guaranteed marriage equality for interracial couples in the United States. This film focuses on the human beings at the centre of one of the biggest stories of the civil rights era and draws attention to the impacts that inequity and discrimination have on everyday people. Bring some snacks and friends and celebrate the true spirit of Valentine’s Day: Love overcoming Hate.

The event will begin at 6 pm on February 14, 2017 in the TRUSU Lecture Hall. All are welcome.
