Membership in the Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union means cooperatively providing services that we all need as students. Ideally, we would all be able to access affordable public services, but because that is not always the case, TRUSU works to ensure that our members don’t fall through the tears in the social safety net.
Your Students’ Union has identified certain services that students require and can be best provided through collective programs. These include such services as: affordable access to public transit, health and dental insurance, affordable travel, campus safety, local and nation-wide discounts, a housing registry, a tutor registry, a text book exchange, a handbook and day planner, an International Student Identity Card, a food bank, and support for numerous student clubs.
These services are offered by your Students’ Union because we recognize that they are vital to students’ continued success in higher education and because they provide what students’ deserve. TRUSU will continue to advocate for better public provision of the services that we all deserve as citizens and valued guests from abroad. Until we can access public transit at affordable rates, until we have a more comprehensive, universal health care system, and so on, your Students’ Union will continue to provide these services to all its members.
