We are asking the Provincial Government to protect LGBTQ+ children by banning conversion therapy for minors and preventing public money from being spent on the practice, in BC!

What is Conversion Therapy?

Conversion therapy is the pseudo-scientific practice of trying to change an individual’s sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual using psychological or spiritual interventions. The Canadian Psychological Association and most medical bodies condemn these practices and confirm they don’t work and are actually harmful to LGBTQ+ people to be subjected to, especially children. Conversion therapy is currently banned in Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, the city of Vancouver, and dozens of countries around the world, but there’s no ban here in BC – which we think is wrong!

What are we calling for?

We’re asking the BC government to ban conversion therapy for minors and ban spending public money on these practices. We believe that protecting LGBTQ+ children from psychological harm done to them under the auspices of conversion therapy should be an important priority for government to take action on.

How can you help?

We’ve created a petition calling on Premier John Horgan, Attorney General David Eby, and Health Minister Adrian Dix to take action by passing Bill 218 the “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Protection Act” which has already been introduced in the legislature. You can help take action by signing the petition below!
