On Thursday, March 10 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (PST), you are invited to join a virtual discussion on Legal Aid Work in the 21st Century. This event will be hosted by three local lawyers with a wealth of experience in this area – Kelly Melnyk, John Gustafson, and Kathy Kendall.

Kelly Melnyk is the supervising lawyer for the Community Legal Clinic at TRU, John Gustafson is a long time criminal legal aid lawyer who practices here in Kamloops, and Kathy Kendall is a well-known family legal aid lawyer in Kamloops as well.

This virtual discussion will be a great opportunity to connect with experienced leaders in this area. Discussion topics will depend on the participants but may include areas like:

  • The future in legal aid work
  • Advice for new lawyers interested in this field
  • The many facets of legal aid work
  • Challenges and opportunities
  • And any other questions based on your interest.
