Knowing what to question before you sign can save you from a lot of trouble later. \nJoin the TRUSU Community Affairs Committee and TRU Community Legal Clinic on October 20 at 4:30 pm in the TRUSU Lecture Hall for a free workshop on navigating credit and co-signing with confidence. \nWe’ll break down some of the common situations students may encounter\, including what it means to borrow money\, what you may be responsible for when you co-sign\, and what can happen if the person you co-sign for doesn’t make their payments. We’ll also look at the fine print that can be easy to overlook\, the questions you should ask before signing\, and some of the red flags that may be worth taking a closer look at. \nWhether you’re building credit for the first time\, considering co-signing for a friend or family member\, or simply want to know what to watch for this workshop will give you a chance to learn directly from the TRU Community Legal Clinic\, ask questions\, and better understand your rights and responsibilities before entering into a credit or co-signing agreement. \nThis workshop is a part of an ongoing workshop series put on by TRUSU and the TRU Community Legal Clinic that aim to build legal literacy\, helping students feel more informed and confident when navigating legal situations. \nThere is no cost to attend but registration is encouraged. As language continues to evolve\, it can be difficult to know what terminology to use or how to ask questions without worrying about getting it wrong. \nThis is a unique opportunity to learn from Kelly Bron Johnson\, which draws on both her professional expertise and lived experience as an Autistic and Hard of Hearing self-advocate to provide insight into the realities of neurodiversity in today’s society. Through personal stories\, research\, and practical examples\, she will explore what neurodiversity is\, challenge common misconceptions\, and examine some of the barriers neurodivergent people continue to encounter in schools\, workplaces\, and everyday life. \nWhether you’re a student\, professional\, leader\, or community member\, this lecture will offer a stronger understanding of neurodiversity\, a greater appreciation for the diversity of human experiences\, and practical ways each of us can contribute to more inclusive and accommodating communities. \nEvent Details\nLearn with us at this year’s EDI Lecture Series\, taking place in the TRU Clock Tower Theatre (CT T200) on Thursday\, October 29\, 2026. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.\, and the lecture will begin at 6:00 p.m. \nThis year’s lecture can be attended in person or online. For the best experience\, we encourage you to join us in person at the Clock Tower Theatre. If you are unable to attend in person\, including Open Learning students learning outside of Kamloops\, you are still welcome to take part by joining the lecture virtually. \nAdmission is free and open to all. In-person seating is limited to the first 200 people who register\, so be sure to secure your seat early. When registering\, please select the appropriate in-person or online ticket type to reflect how you plan to participate. \nEDI Lecture Series\nEach year the TRUSU Equity Committee hosts the Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lecture Series to bring the campus and broader community together to explore relevant and engaging topics in the world of EDI. We bring speakers\, free of charge\, to our campus with the aim to provide opportunities to engage on issues of social justice\, human rights\, and other critical EDI conversations. Growing and learning together is the mark of a community that is equipped to lead with understanding and respect for one another.   \nDon’t miss this opportunity to engage with an important topic that will inspire and guide the future of Neurodiversity understanding and inclusion in our community.  URL:https://trusu.ca/event/beyond-the-labels-understanding-neurodiversity/ LOCATION:Clock Tower – CT200\, 815 University Drive\, Kamloops\, BC\, V2C 0B8 CATEGORIES:Campus Life,Equity ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://trusu.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/EDI-Lecture-Kelly-Bron-Johnson.png ORGANIZER;CN="TRUSU Equity Committee":MAILTO:a.billy@trusu.ca GEO:50.6704405;-120.3609121 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Clock Tower – CT200 815 University Drive Kamloops BC V2C 0B8;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=815 University Drive:geo:-120.3609121,50.6704405 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Vancouver:20261104T170000 DTEND;TZID=America/Vancouver:20261104T200000 DTSTAMP:20261006T165731Z CREATED:20261001T165408Z LAST-MODIFIED:20261006T165731Z UID:10001633-1793811600-1793822400@trusu.ca SUMMARY:TRUSU Games Night – Bingo Night Social DESCRIPTION:Winner winner\, Chicken dinner!\nJoin us for an unforgettable experience for a Bingo Night Social at The Grand Hall on November 4\, 2026\, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a chance to win up to $4\,000 in tuition credit and other exciting prizes. \nWith free admission\, free bingo tickets\, funny bingo calls\, chance to make new friends\, & exciting prizes this is a night not to be missed. Between tuition\, textbooks\, and the rising cost of living\, many students face difficult choices when it comes to stretching their budget. At TRUSU\, we believe that no student should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from while working toward their education. \nThat’s why we’re helping make healthy\, home-cooked meals more accessible through our Chef’s Package Program. Once a month\, TRUSU provides free chef’s packages filled with ingredients to prepare a nutritious and delicious meal at home. \nJoin us on the second Wednesday of every month starting at 10:00 a.m. inside the TRUSU Building\, where the TRUSU Services Committee will be handing out free chef’s packages to TRU students. \nSupplies are limited and packages are available on a first-come\, first-served basis\, so be sure to stop by early to pick up yours. \nHappy cooking—and bon appétit!
