Coast Mountain Epic – Guest Lecture
This is one case where the use of the word EPIC is truly justified.
Come join us on campus for this guest speaker event put on in partnership with the TRU Adventure Guide program and the TRU Students’ Union. The wildly adventurous mother-daughter duo of Tania and Martina Halik will be presenting the Coast Mountain Epic, a 2,300km ski traverse from Squamish, BC to Skagway, AK that they took on last winter.
This undertaking was self-planned, self-supported, and took 6 months to complete. Tania and Martina travelled over 15 major icefields, 12 large river valleys, and amongst countless peaks, while they traversed BC’s Coast Mountain Range in all manner of conditions, with little more than the packs on their backs and resource drops they arranged along the way… when they could locate them!
Tania and Martina have been giving presentations around BC on their experiences during the Coast Mountain Epic, and are excited to join us at TRU on February 19th to share their story, field our questions, and meet students with a keen interest in adventure. If this sounds exciting to you, please join us to show your support, and take advantage of the opportunity to meet and learn from these two passionate adventurers!
