We’re excited to announce our second annual back-to-school dance! As we get into the rhythm of the academic year, and kick off our club activities, our goal is to foster unity and set the tone for the semester ahead! Whether stepping onto the dance floor for the very first time or grooving for years, this event promises a delightful blend of learning and social dancing in a lively environment. Our swing social dance adheres to a time-honored structure, designed meticulously to accommodate both novices and seasoned dancers.

This year to bring TRU dancers into the broader dance community we are partnering with Lindy in the Loops. Lindy in the Loops will be providing highly experienced instructors, DJs, and their beautiful new location at the Kelson Group Hall, Downtown Kamloops. We hope that with our joint event, everyone becomes a part of this melding of rhythms and souls, where every beat is an invitation and every dance a new story!

Event Schedule:

7:00 – 8:00 – Intro to Swing Lesson
Guided by experienced instructors, this 1-hour session will cover swing dancing for complete beginners. From basic steps to leading and following techniques, this class will equip newcomers with everything they need to confidently step onto the dance floor.

8:00 – 10:30 – Swing Dance Social
Post-lesson, the floor opens up for a swing dance social. Here, everyone, from novices to experts, is encouraged to dance with different partners, try out new moves, and simply enjoy the rhythm of the music. It’s a celebration of dance and the joy of swing that brings together TRU dancers with local dancers as well!
