Event Type

On Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m., join us for a virtual lecture and Q&A with Ian Scott, the Executive Director of the Tofino Housing Corporation. This talk will look at Tofino as a case study for the role that municipalities can play in helping to solve the housing crisis being experienced in many communities across BC through non-market housing.

The Tofino Housing Corporation is entirely owned by the District of Tofino and has a goal of making available a safe, secure, and affordable place to live for all people who call Tofino home. Currently, there are approximately 90 units funded or under construction by the Tofino Housing Corporation with the goal to reach double that by 2030.

Ian Scott is a Registered Professional Planner with twenty years of sustainable sustainable community planning and urban and affordable housing development experience. Ian is principal of his own planning consulting firm, which he has operated for the past nine years. Previously, he worked as a development and policy planner for three different local governments in the Victoria region.

RSVP to join the conversation about the role of non-market housing in moving towards solving the housing crisis.
