Under my skin, a splendor of organs
Under my skin , a splendor of organs is a solo exhibition of works by Vancouver based artist Kristina Fiedrich. As an alumna of TRU (BFA, 2005), the exhibition explores a decade of the artist’s studio-based practice that investigates the capricious subjective body. Highlighting the process and progress of an extended body of work, this exhibition includes drawings, paintings, sculpture and animation, illuminating the trajectory of the artist’s emergent practice. The exhibition at the TRU Art Gallery provides the first extensive solo show of Fiedrich’s artistic practice in her hometown and alumni gallery.
This exhibition will be free to visit and will run from March 10 to April 1. We would like to invite you to an opening reception held on Friday, March 11 at 7:00 pm.
This exhibition will accompany the Body Eclectic: Exploring the Diversity of Bodily Being colloquium (March 11 – March 13) at Thompson Rivers University. This immersive and engaging colloquium is centered around the dissemination and exchange of ideas, research and practices that engage the topic of embodiment and phenomenological experience. The colloquium is open to the public. This event will include keynote speeches from internationally acclaimed modern dancer/choreographer Margie Gillis and Emeritus Professor and psychologist Robert Romanyshyn. Eighteen experts in a diversity of fields will come together in an extended conversation around the eclectic and collective experience of living a body in the 21st century. With an interdisciplinary approach it is our goal to promote scholarly encounters between different disciplines, professions, areas of expertise and contexts as a means of stimulating emergent and creative discussions relating to embodiment. Accompanied by a Reading Room, e-publication and online access, this event will certainly be interesting and will foster further research and collaboration.
