On October 12, 2017 at 4:05PM the TRU Students’ Union will present students priorities to the BC Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services.

The Students’ Union is requesting that a provincial upfront need-based grants system is created and that the TRU funding formula is re-evaluated to expand how the institution has changed in the last decade.

“Our two recommendations are designed to focus on helping students across the province access post-secondary education through improved financial aid, as well as improving students’ overall experience here at TRU through better core funding,” said Cole Hickson, Vice President External. “To strengthen the post-secondary system we need to support both students and institutions.”

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services tours the province each fall to receive presentations from community organizations. The committee forms recommendations for the upcoming provincial budget based on these submissions.
