Wednesday March 15 10AM-2PM Old Main – Student Street
Monday March 20, 2017 10AM-2PM Old Main – Student Street

Representatives from Elections BC and the TRU Students’ Union will be on campus on Thursday, March 9 from 11am-1pm in the Trades and Technology building, and on Wednesday, March 15 and Monday, March 20 from 10am-2pm in Old Main to register students to vote and to answer questions in the lead up to the May 9 provincial election.

“Election day is fast approaching and it’s important that students have all of the information they need in order to vote on May 9th” said Amber Storvold, Vice-President External of TRUSU. “We are partnering with Elections BC to ensure that students at TRU are confident in where and how they can vote on election day.”

To register, students will need to provide their BC driver’s license number or the last six digits of their Social Insurance Number, as well as their current address. When they register in advance they will receive a voter registration card in the mail that lets them know where their closest polling location is, and also serves as a piece of ID.

You can register to vote in a provincial election in BC if you are:

  • 18 or older;
  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • a BC resident for the past six months

“Elections are about deciding the future of our province and students need to have their voices heard,” said Storvold. “Registering to vote is an important step to participating in the election and we are working with Elections BC to ensure that as many of our members as possible are registered.”
