You’re invited to help publicly claim Thompson Rivers University as a space that welcomes and respects the LGBTQ+ community to live, work, and study! We will be gathering community submissions over the next few weeks to create a digital showcase of campus Pride to be presented in October.

Participating in Pride @ Home

We’re looking for digital submissions of things, people, places, and experiences in your life that make you feel proud to be a member or ally of the LGBTQ+ community. What activities make you feel safe and included on campus or in the community? What places are refuges from homophobia, Transphobia, and other forms of discrimination? What special friends and family do you have in your life that validate, celebrate, and respect you? For allies, which LGBTQ+ people in your life have opened your eyes to the diversity, and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community? What successes in the advancement of LGBTQ+ rights are you most proud of? What barriers still prevent the full equity and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people in our community? Why is celebrating Pride important to you?

How to participate in Pride @ Home

1. Post your submission on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, tag @trusu15 and use the hashtag #myTRUPride
2. Upload your submission to our online form before October 9^th.  A good option if you’d like to make an anonymous submission.

Please include a brief text description alongside each post with any additional explanation or information you’d like to share.

Pride @ Home participation ideas

•  Post a selfie of yourself, your family, or other’s in your life who validate and celebrate LGBTQ+ people
• Post a photo of your dog, cat, or other pet dressed up in their rainbow/pride best
• Post a photo of home, your backyard, or a community space where you feel safe and respected as an LGBTQ+ person
• Share the trailer for a tv show or movie that you feel validates and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community
• Post the cover art of a song or album that you feel validates and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community
• Post a written explanation about what Pride means to you, why it’s important, and how our community has succeeded or failed at making campus and Kamloops a safe and welcoming place for LGBTQ+ people
• Send a video of yourself singing or lip syncing a song that you consider is related to Pride
• Send a photo of what your outfit would be if you were attending Pride
• Bake some rainbow treats and share a picture of the results
• Share some pictures of your participation in previous pride parades
• Post a video message or TikTok describing any of the topics above
