Well, it looks like it is official, the province is slowly reopening, and we are coming back to campus this Fall. For us, here at TRUSU, that means we are busily working to reopen the Students’ Union Building for full operations to serve you. We can’t wait to have our building filled with activity again. It also means we are looking for students to join our team to support the Students’ Union Building.

The Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union (TRUSU) is currently looking to fill job openings for baristas in its Common Grounds Coffee Shop and for attendants at our Members’ Services Desk for the upcoming Fall and Winter semesters (August 30, 2021 – April 30, 2022). The available positions will have a fixed semesterly schedule with shifts between 8 a.m.  and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Hours for these positions range from 10-to-20 hours a week based on student availability.

Common Grounds Baristas will be expected to make and serve food/beverages as well as to complete regular cleaning and administrative tasks that support our food-service operations. Members Services Desk Attendants will be expected to provide frontline service support to assist students and to support the groups that book rooms in the TRUSU Building.

Applicants should have customer service experience and excellent communications skills. Food-service experience is preferred but is not required.

Successful applicants will be required to participate in mandatory training on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1, 2021 and complete one training shift on Sept. 2 and 3. Applicants not available on those dates need not apply.

How to apply?

Send a cover letter, your resume, and your fall course schedule via email to execdir@trusu.ca. Applications that do not include all three components will not be reviewed. Please indicate in your email if you are applying for the Members Services Desk, Common Grounds or both. We will be accepting applications for these positions until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.
