SUMMARY:Learn to Swim Level 1
DESCRIPTION:Swimming is not only a great way to stay healthy and fit—it’s also a vital life skill\, especially in a place like Kamloops\, home to over 100 lakes and rivers just an hour’s drive away. \nMany students at TRU want to enjoy these outdoor water activities—but not everyone knows how to swim. That’s why the TRUSU Services Committee has partnered with the Canada Games Aquatic Centre to offer Learn-to-Swim lessons exclusively for TRU students! \nSession Outline:\nThe February Learn-to-Swim Session will be a 5-weeks long (10-lessons) program and will cover the basics of swimming and pool safety protocols. The program starts on February 10th and runs until March 12th in the Canada Games Aquatic Centre within the Tournament Capital Centre. \nRegistration Options\nThere are two cohorts available to students with a max capacity of 6 participants in each cohort. Each participant can register in one cohort only. Complete schedule for each cohort is listed below. \n\n\n\n\nCohort 1: 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM \n\n\nCohort 2: 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM \n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, February 10\, 2026 \n\n\nTuesday\, February 10\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nThursday\, February 12\, 2026 \n\n\nThursday\, February 12\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, February 17\, 2026 \n\n\nTuesday\, February 17\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nThursday\, February 19\, 2026 \n\n\nThursday\, February 19\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, February 24\, 2026 \n\n\nTuesday\, February 24\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nThursday\, February 26\, 2026 \n\n\nThursday\, February 26\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, March 03\, 2026 \n\n\nTuesday\, March 03\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nThursday\, March 05\, 2026 \n\n\nThursday\, March 05\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, March 10\, 2026 \n\n\nTuesday\, March 10\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nThursday\, March 12\, 2026 \n\n\nThursday\, March 12\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\nNote that participants need to attend all 8 lessons to have a complete Learn to Swim experience. SUMMARY:First Aid Kit Giveaway
DESCRIPTION:For many years TRUSU has supported students throughout their studies and offered peace of mind through the extended health and dental plan should they get sick. While the union does its best to protect their members\, accidents and injuries can occur anywhere – at home\, at the workplace\, while driving or while participating in sports events. They are not wished for\, but they do happen. \nThrough the TRUSU Wellness Series\, the union wanted to give students something that can help them respond effectively to common injuries and emergencies – a First Aid Kit. A First Aid Kit with proper supplies can help clean cuts\, limit risks of infection and help an injury to heal such as a sprain. Whether it’s a minor or serious injury\, it’s a good idea for households to have first aid kits available and fully stocked. \nOn Wednesday\, February 04\, 2026 the TRUSU Services Committee will be giving away First Aid Kits to students so that they have the essential items at home and are prepared for unforeseen medical emergencies. The event will start at 10:00 am inside the TRUSU Building and the committee has 100 FREE First Aid Kits to be given away to students on a first-come-first serve basis. \nSupplies are limited. Make sure you stop by at the Services Committee table inside TRUSU building and get a First Aid Kit. Stay Safe!!
