DESCRIPTION:The Students’ Union has worked with the City of Kamloops to set up a special voting opportunity in advance of the October 17 Municipal election. This special voting opportunity is open to students\, staff and faculty at TRU. Voting will take place on October 9\, 2026 from 9:00am-11:30am in the TRUSU Lecture Hall.  \nWho Can Vote in a Civic Election\nYou can vote in a civic election as a resident elector in Kamloops if you: \n\nare a Canadian citizen\nare 18 years of age or older on general voting day\nhave lived in British Columbia for at least six months\nare not disqualified by law from voting\n\nAll Kamloops residents who meet these requirements can vote. It does not matter if you rent or own your home.  \nMore details about voter eligibility can be found here  \nVoting Process\nYou do not need to register as an elector in advance to vote in a municipal election in Kamloops. To vote\, visit a voting location on an advance voting day or on general voting day between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Bring two pieces of identification: at least one must show your signature\, and at least one must show your address. (The combined BC driver’s licence and BC Services card will be considered as ONE piece of identification.) After a registration clerk records your name\, you can cast your ballot. Do not vote for more candidates than the number to be elected. You may vote for fewer candidates if you choose. DESCRIPTION:The TRUSU Equity Committee is excited to host an Equity Training on Mental Health and Supportive Conversations\, a free session designed for anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of mental health and build the confidence to support others in meaningful\, responsible ways. This training will be facilitated by experts from the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Kamloops Branch\, who bring extensive experience in community mental health education and psychological safety. \nThis interactive session will explore how mental health exists on a continuum and why psychological health and safety matter in campus environments. Whether you are a student\, staff member\, or community leader\, knowing how to respond when someone shares they are struggling is an essential skill. Participants will gain practical tools to navigate supportive conversations while recognizing the importance of boundaries\, self-awareness\, and equity in mental health discussions. \nIn this session\, participants will explore: \n\nUnderstanding Mental Health as a Continuum – recognizing that mental health exists on a spectrum and that experiencing challenges does not automatically mean someone has a mental illness.\nPsychological Health and Shared Responsibility – examining the role students\, staff\, and leaders play in creating safer\, more supportive campus environments.\nEquity and Mental Health – understanding how diversity\, inclusion\, and lived experience shape mental health outcomes and conversations.\nRecognizing Signs and Responding with Care – identifying subtle indicators that someone may be struggling and learning practical strategies for having supportive conversations.\nSustainable Support and Self-Care – maintaining boundaries\, following up appropriately\, and building resilience to prevent burnout.\n\nParticipants will leave with practical\, real-world tools they can apply in classrooms\, workplaces\, leadership roles\, and daily interactions. \nRegistration Details\nThis free training is available to the first 40 participants who complete the registration below. DESCRIPTION:Do you ever feel overwhelmed by constant deadlines and expectations? Are you struggling to find balance between productivity and rest? Do you wonder how others are managing to keep up without burning out? Come be a part of an open\, honest conversation about what sustainable productivity really means and how we can support each other through the pressures of student life.  \nOn Wednesday\, February 18\, 2026\, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm\, join the TRUSU Campaigns Committee for pizza and an open discussion centered student productivity. Together\, we’ll talk about the constant pressure to always be “on\,” share experiences with procrastination and burnout\, and explore what a balanced approach to work and rest means for each of us. We’d love to hear from you about what you do to make it through the semester\, and any other thoughts you have on what it is like to try and balance all the things students need to do.  \nThis discussion is part of the TRU Students’ Union Breaking Bread Series which strives to create a space for students and local community leaders to come together over a shared meal\, discuss contemporary issues\, share perspective and create community.
