Opting In to the Health and Dental Plan
Who is automatically covered?
Every member enrolled full time in the Fall Semester (9 credits or more on campus) is automatically enrolled in the TRUSU Health and Dental plan. Part-time students (less than 9 credits on campus), winter and summer semester students or students studying through TRU Open Learning are not automatically on the TRUSU Health and Dental Plan.
Who can opt-in to the plan?
Part-time students, Open Learning students, and students who have previously opted-out of the plan are eligible to opt-in to the health and dental plan if they wish. However, you must be a TRUSU Member at the time of opt-in. Additionally, students that are already on the health and dental plan can also choose to add their partner or dependents to the plan for an additional fee listed in the table below.
- Student — $248
- Single Opt-in (partner or dependent) — $286
- Family Opt-in (partner and dependents) — $382
To opt in yourself or a family member, complete the online opt-in form through the link below. You will need the names and birthdates of anyone you are opting into the plan.
After submitting the opt in form, activation may take up to three business days. You will receive a confirmation email once coverage is active, including details on how to use your plan.
