Deals Discount Program
Between rising tuition, textbook costs, rent, and groceries, expenses add up quickly for students. That’s why TRUSU partners with other BC Federation of Students members to offer the Deals Program—an easy way to save on everyday costs. With the Deals App, you can access discounts at restaurants, shops, fitness studios, travel companies, and more across British Columbia. Just download the app, create an account, and set your location to unlock savings at over 600 spots in Kamloops and throughout BC.
The program works by having BC Federation of Students member organizations, like TRUSU, connect with local businesses to secure valuable discounts for students, while the Federation negotiates province-wide offers from larger companies. Once you’re set up on the Deals App, you can browse and use discounts from retailers, service providers, entertainment venues, wellness brands, and travel partners—all in one place.
4 Steps to Getting the Deals
1 – Download the App
2 – Create Your Account
Create your free account using your TRU ID number. Select “Thompson Rivers University Students Union” under the Student Union section of the form.
Important! – Make sure your student number and name are accurate. It is what is used to verify your account and student status!
3 – Find Deals Near You
Browse discounts nearest to you using the map view. Or if you are searching fro something specific you can also search by category.
Find some favourites? You can bookmark deals you want to come back to again!
4 – Redeem Your Discount and Save!
Now you are ready. Head to participating business locations to start saving!
To redeem a discount, click on the virtual coupon to see the instructions needed to use the discount in-store or online. Present the coupon and your student ID at the time of purchase.

Businesses need to agree to offer at least one ongoing discount. Beyond that businesses can also create specific term-limited or flash discounts during the upcoming year.
