There are many organizations leading powerful equity initiatives around the world. The TRU Students’ Union recognizes that we have a role to play in advancing global equity by supporting this work. That’s why we engage our campus and broader community in taking action, helping to raise awareness of the issues and amplify the impact of each initiative through collective support.
The Union organizes this solidarity work four times a year, each time focusing on a different initiative. This allows us to ensure that our efforts stay current and responsive to the most pressing equity issues. We do this by organizing opportunities for our campus and the broader Kamloops community to take part in simple but meaningful actions; for example, signing petitions, wearing visibility pins, contributing to donation drives, and much more. Each initiative is different, but all are grounded in the goal of mobilizing our community to stand in solidarity and take action that furthers progress on critical equity issues.
