There are four categories of grant applications available for funding through the TRUSU grants program. Each category is designed to fund a different type of activity. Read through the descriptions below to ensure you are completing the appropriate grant application. See the table below for a brief overview. Please ensure that you have reviewed the Grant Application Process and the Grant Application Deadlines information before submitting an application,
Conference Attendance Grant
This grant is intended to support students in attending conferences that enhance their educational opportunities outside of the classroom. Grants can cover any eligible expenses to a maximum of $1,000/person and $5,000/group.
Eligible expenses include:
- registration fees (does not include organizational memberships)
- accommodation costs (does not include food or beverages)
- and travel costs.
In order to be eligible for funding
- applications must be reviewed by the Services Committee before the conference; (application deadlines)
- all individuals included in your application must be registered in at least one Kamloops campus course in the current semester;
- the conference may not be required for the completion of your course or program;
- the conference you are attending may not take place more than one semester into the future;
- a TRUSU Grant may not have already been allocated to fund the conference;
- members of your group may not have received uReap funding for research related to the conference.
Event Grant
This grant is intended to support campus groups in hosting events that develop a sense of community and campus life. There is no limit to the number of applications a club can submit in a given year. Grants are eligible to cover a maximum of $2,000/event. Eligible expenses are: food and beverage expenses, entertainment or talent expenses, sounds and production expenses, venue expenses, material, and supply expenses, and contracted travel expenses.
In order to be eligible for this grant your group:
- must have your application reviewed by the Services Committee before the event; (application deadlines)
- must be a registered TRUSU Club;
- must be able to demonstrate need (we fund events not fundraisers);
- may not have already received a TRUSU Grant for this event or activity;
- may not be receiving course or program credit or the event or activity.
Educational Activity Grant
This grant is intended to support academic events which enhance learning opportunities for students outside of their regular class schedule. Activities eligible for an Educational Activity Grant include:
- On-Campus Lectures
- On-Campus Conferences
- On-Campus Workshops
In addition, applications must demonstrate how they will work to advance one of the Union’s strategic priorities including:
- Advance the interests of students
- Empower students to participate as engaged citizens
- Support students in meeting their personal needs
- Support students in meeting their professional and/or educational aspirations
- Foster campus life.
Grants are eligible to cover eligible expenses to a maximum of $5,000/event. Eligible expenses are food and beverage expenses, entertainment or talent expenses, sound and production expenses, venue expenses, and material and supply expenses.
In order to be eligible for this grant your group:
- must have your application reviewed by the Services Committee before the event; (application deadlines)
- must be able to demonstrate need (we fund activities not fundraisers);
- must have a TRU faculty or staff member supporting your application;
- may not have already received a TRUSU Grant for this event or activity;
