As the Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union, we affirm our solidarity with those across the world working to seek divestment of taxpayer and student dollars in investments that fail to match the stated values of our community. 

We commend the work of @peoplesuniversityTRU in securing a commitment from Thompson Rivers University to begin the process of divesting taxpayer and student dollars from investments in companies and institutions that are complicit in surveillance, occupation, human rights violations, and murder anywhere and everywhere.  

We call on Thompson Rivers University and other institutions to ensure that students seeking such divestments now and in future are engaged respectfully, thoughtfully, and meaningfully in their requests.  

We are proud of the work of our members and of the commitment of Thompson Rivers University and look forward to monitoring their progress to ensure that our institutional investments match the values of our community.
