Volunteer Fair

Connect with local organizations at the TRUSU Volunteer Fair. Find meaningful opportunities to give back, gain experience, and make a difference in your community.

The TRUSU Volunteer Fair is an annual on-campus event, held each September, that connects students who are interested in volunteering off campus with local nonprofits, charities, and other community organizations who are seeking passionate volunteers to assist them in achieving their organizations mission and operating their programs.

Why Volunteer as a Student?

As a student it can be hard to build connections and reinforce the skills you are learning in class. Volunteering off campus is a powerful way to do this! Volunteer opportunities create an opportunity to meet new people, create connections, build or boost your skills, and overall enhance your resume, all while giving back to your community in a meaningful way.

Many organizations that want and need you because of the specialized skills you have or are building! Organizations develop student volunteer with you in mind that offer a chance for you to improve your student experience. By taking on a volunteer position, you get to contribute to a cause you care about, help make our community a better place, and work towards you own personal or professional aspirations all at the same time.

How can you Find and Apply for Opportunities?

Unsure of how to get started? No problem. We have got you covered! At the TRUSU Volunteer Fair students can explore a wide array of volunteer opportunities, interact directly with representatives from the various organizations, and find an opportunity that aligns with your interests!

Whether you’re looking to gain experience, fulfill required volunteer hours, or make a difference in Kamloops, the TRUSU Volunteer Fair is your gateway to meaningful community involvement.

Organizations

Like you we believe that our community is stronger when we come together. Integrating student volunteers into your organization allows you to leverage students with specialized skills and diverse backgrounds, creating a more dynamic organization.

Students are looking for experience that can directly relate to their professional aspirations, and/or give back to the community. However, we know that the hardest part is connecting the right person to the right opportunity. The goal of the TRUSU Volunteer fair is to bridge this gap by building a space for these intentional connections to happen.

How to Connect with Student Volunteers

When offering opportunities, it can be hard to outline what you are hoping to get from a volunteer. To help you with this we will work with you to create a posting featured on the United Way TRUSU volunteer page that aligns your needs with what students are able to offer during their schooling experience.

At the TRUSU Volunteer Fair each organization will have a booth, allowing you to connect face to face with students that are eager for experience. You will be able to discuss what your organization is about, the work you do, and what you are hoping for from your volunteers, all while developing a relationship before they have even applied!

Whether you are looking for students with specific skills or dynamic volunteers for extra help, we want to connect you. Together, we can create a space of connection, community and professional educational opportunities!
