New changes to the TRU Library are happening this fall! The TRU Library has committed to serve students better by expanding service times, and space availability.
Starting Fall 2025 the TRU Library serving students better by:
- Opening all four floors of House of Learning from 7:30 am to midnight, seven days a week
- Making the physical book collection (excluding Course reserves) accessible during all building hours.
- Expanded TRU Library Makerspace hours from 10 am to 7 pm, Monday to Thursday.
- Extending hours for virtual research services and 24/7 access to online resources.
- Having 10 Student Ambassadors offer peer support to fellow students.
- Providing streamlined access to scholarly articles via Browzine and Nomad Key.
These changes were brought on by the investigation and recommendations outlined in the report Library Hours at HOL which included 2024/2025 usage data, conducted space observations, interviews, a consultation, and recommendations. The report aimed to address staffing difficulties, service point prioritization, and how to balance student and staff needs. Based on this report TRUSU supported the implementation of these changes letter of endorsement for the recommendations.
“These changes are an important step in ensuring students have the access to the library spaces and supports they need.” said Crystal Yamak, Campaigns Committee Executive Member. “The TRU Library is an important space for students on campus; we are excited and happy about the speedy implementation of the recommendations.”
