New Member Blackout Period
If you are a first time student, your coverage starts on September 01, but you will not be able to set up your Greenshield Account or submit any claims until after the opt out deadline on October 07, 2025. Please keep any receipts you have from health and dental services from September 01 to October 07 as you will be able to make those backdated claims once the blackout period is lifted. If you are a returning student, you do not have a blackout period and can both make claims and set up your Greenshield Account right away.
How do I set up my Greenshield Account?
If you’re new to the plan, you’ll need to set up your Greenshield online account to access your benefits, submit claims, and view coverage details. A step-by-step video is available to guide you through the process.
What is my plan member ID number?
To use your plan, you are going to need your Plan Member ID number. Your Plan Member ID is derived from your student number. Please review the following steps to formulate your plan member ID:
- Remove the “T” and leading zeros from your student number (eg. T00012345 = 12345)
- Add TRU to the front of the number (TRU12345)
- Add -00 to the end (TRU12345-00)

What is the Plan Member ID for my spouse or dependent?
If you have opted your spouse or dependent into the health and dental plan, their Plan Member ID number is connected to yours.
- Spouse or partner: TRU12345-01
- First Dependant: TRU12345-02
- Second Dependant: TRU12345-03 and so on
