Equity Trainings: Equality Rights 101

Equity Trainings

The TRUSU Equity Committee is excited to host an Equity Training on Equality Rights 101, a free session designed for anyone looking to do critical reflection about the law, discrimination, and marginalization. This training will be facilitated by West Coast LEAF, a non-profit that advances gender justice through litigation, law reform, and public legal education, in collaboration with community.

This interactive session will explore equality rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and BC’s Human Rights Code and compares two colonial legal understandings of equality. Whether you are a student, staff member, or community leader; knowing how to look at the gap between what the law says and the reality we live in are essential skills. Participants will gain practical tools to open a discussion about strategies for challenging injustice.
