2026 TRUSU Election

Each year the Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union holds an election to select a new Board of Directors for the upcoming year. Students who are elected govern the Union and assist in the planning and implementation of the Union programs in the following Academic year. Any student studying on-campus at TRU is eligible to nominate themselves for election to the TRUSU Board of Directors. To learn more about the Union and its operations click here.

Members of the Board serve a one-year term from May 1 until April 30 and are eligible to be paid for up to 15 hours per week as an executive member and 10 hours per week as a representative. This is a great way to serve your fellow students, be a part of a great community of student leaders, and develop your skills along the way. However, it is also a serious responsibility and time commitment. To find out more detail about the responsibilities of members of the Board of Directors click here.

Candidates for election must be available to attend an in-person orientation from May 4-6, 2026. Travel and accommodation will be provided for any elected open learning members not based in Kamloops.
