Event Type
Swimming is an excellent form of exercise that keeps the heart and lungs healthy, improves strength and flexibility, increases stamina, and most important of all – Swimming Saves Lives.
Kamloops has more than 100 lakes or rivers within a one-hour drive which are ideal for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding or water activities. Students coming to TRU want to enjoy these outdoor activities, but many do not know how to swim and are the risk of drowning.
To reduce such fatalities, TRUSU Services Committee has partnered with the Canada Games Aquatic Centre to offer Swim lessons to students at TRU and teach this important life skill so that they can enjoy life in Canada.
Session Outline:
The November Learn-to-Swim Session will be a 4-weeks long (8-lessons) program and will cover the basics of swimming and pool safety protocols. The program starts on November 19, 2024 and runs until December 12, 2024 in the Canada Games Aquatic Centre within the Tournament Capital Centre
