Policies

Policies help guide the Students’ Union in decision-making and day-to-day operations. They can be created for specific issues or time periods and are more flexible than the constitution and bylaws. The Union maintains both issues policies, which outline official positions on student concerns, and operational policies, which govern internal processes.

Board of Directors Elections

TRUSU elections select a new Board of Directors each year, offering students the opportunity to represent their peers and shape the future of the Students’ Union.

Annual General Meetings

The TRUSU Annual General Meeting (AGM) is your opportunity to engage in the direction of the Students’ Union by reviewing reports, financial statements, and proposed resolutions. Join us each January to stay informed and have your voice heard.

Members-at-Large

Members-at-Large are volunteers who serve on TRUSU Committees to provide additional feedback and support the elected representatives and staff of the Students’ Union in implementing annual plans throughout the year. These volunteers are appointed by the Board of Directors each year in April and serve a one-year term from May 1 to April 30. Below you can find a list of the Members-at-Large Appointed to TRUSU Committees for the current term.

Board of Directors

The board of directors of the TRU Students’ Union is made up of twenty representatives selected in an election each year. These representatives each serve a one-year term from May 1st to April 30th. There are five executive members, six constituency representatives, and eight committee representatives. These representatives are responsible for overseeing the Students’ Union and its operations. They make decisions on behalf of the entire membership and manage the organisation in between annual general meetings.

About Our Structure

The Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union (TRUSU) is a democratic organization led by its members, who shape its direction through annual elections and active participation. With standing committees, a dedicated Board of Directors, and the Student Caucus, TRUSU works to support student voices and address campus-wide issues.
