Before you decide to opt-out of the extended Health and Dental Plan that the Students Union provides for TRU Students, be sure to consider if it will benefit you to coordinate the coverage that you already have with the TRUSU Plan. These two plans can work together to provide you with the maximum level of coverage and benefits and ensure all your health needs are covered.
How to opt-out
If you already have extended health and dental coverage through another provider and aren’t interested in coordinating your benefits, you are able to apply to be opted out of the TRUSU Extended Health and Dental Plan. To opt-out of the plan, you must complete the correct online opt-out form outlined below please ensure that you have the information for your other extended health and dental plan ready when you complete your opt-out.
Academic Students
Academic (or semester-based) students can opt-out of the TRUSU extended health and dental plan in their myTRU account. The opt-out deadline for the 2023/2024 academic students is October 7, 2024. Click the button below to log into your myTRU account and submit your opt-out.
Trades/Vocational Students
Trades/Vocational Students can opt-out of the TRUSU extended health and dental plan by completing the form below. The opt-out deadline for vocational students is within 30 days of their course start date.
