We are delighted to announce TRUSU Social Dance Club’s upcoming event, the ‘Salsa Sensations’, a 3-hour workshop on February 11th!
Tailored for dance enthusiasts at all skill levels, this event promises an immersive experience in the vibrant world of salsa dancing. Led by experienced instructor Todd Paquin, participants will engage in two exhilarating lessons exploring some of the basics, enjoy a break for mingling and water, and culminate the day with a social dancing extravaganza. Join us for an unforgettable exploration of rhythm, movement, and connection!
Schedule
12:45 PM – 1:00 PM: Welcome and Registration
Our event kicks off at 12:45 PM with a warm welcome and a quick registration process. Upon arrival, you will receive a friendly greeting, complete the sign-in procedure, and obtain essential materials, including name tags and informative documents detailing the day’s schedule.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Salsa Lesson 1
The first lesson, led by local experienced instructor Todd Paquin, will focus on foundational steps, body movement, and partner connection, ensuring an inclusive experience for participants with diverse levels of salsa proficiency.
2:00 PM – 2:15 PM: Refreshment Break
To recharge we’ll have a brief refreshment break where sparkling and still water will be provided. This is a great time for mingling and exchanging dance experiences, and asking our instructor or organizers any questions you may have.
2:15 PM – 3:15 PM: Salsa Lesson 2
The second instructional segment will delve deeper into salsa techniques, covering another footwork pattern, partner patterns, and styling, giving you a few more tools for your salsa tool belt.
3:15 PM – 4:00 PM: Social Dancing Extravaganza
The workshop will conclude with a social dancing session, where you can apply your newfound skills or just get on the dance floor and bust out your old moves. The dance floor will be open to all, including community members who did not partake in the workshop, to bring together the TRU and Kamloops dance community.
