On January 16th, members of the Union met with the TRU to discuss potential updates to the TRU Campus Master Plan, which includes development guidelines outlining the future of the campus landscape.
TRU Vice President of Administration & Finance Matt Milovick and Associate Vice President Campus Infrastructure, Sustainability, & Ancillary Services Warren Asuchak provided an overview of the proposed revitalization, which included changes to the heart of our campus in front of Old Main, additional campus infrastructure including several new academic buildings, and changes to student housing.
Students asked questions regarding the location of the pedestrian bridge, the temporary housing in West Gate, and how active transportation routes may connect into the campus roads.
“There were lots of questions from students hoping to understand how these changes might impact future students. Those members that attended highlighted many of the priorities that students have regarding the future of our campus design,” said Jannat Bhullar, University Affairs Executive.
Following additional community consultation in February, the proposed changes to the campus master plan will be proposed to the TRU Board of Governors at their public meeting on March 28th for approval.
