Following a collaborative review of the BC Housing Leading Practices for Student Rental Agreements, the TRU Students’ Union and TRU hosted four feedback sessions to hear from students about their unique experiences living in the McGill, North, Tower, East Village, and West Gate Residences.
During each feedback session, residents were asked about their experience with safety, privacy, maintenance, cleanliness, the residence environment, and support services. Students shared their thoughts, and the feedback was compiled into a summary report consisting of 8 common theme recommendations and 28 residence-specific recommendations.
Alongside TRU Facilities, Residences, Student Affairs, and Risk Management, the TRU Student’s Union reviewed each of these recommendations and discussed several opportunities for improvement for residence facilities, security information, space allocation, and support services.
“It was exciting to talk to students directly and hear from them about their experience,” said TRU Residence Life Manager Brandon Jodoin, “We will build on this partnership and continue to explore the changes we can make to best support our residents.”
