Volunteering has been a long-standing part of the student experience. Whether on club, on a committee, or with a community group students fill many volunteer roles. These roles both assist the organizations and provide students with valuable experience. However, this expectation also raises a number of questions. What makes a good volunteer experience? What makes a bad volunteer experience? How helpful is volunteering in building ones resume? And should students even be volunteering or should they be compensated for their participation?  If any of these questions interest you then we want to hear from you.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 pm the TRUSU Campaigns Committee and representatives from other community stakeholders are holding a small group discussion on the value of volunteering as it pertains to TRU students. We hope you will join to share your thoughts, highlight successes, and bring to our attention to gaps in support.

This discussion is part of the TRU Students’ Union’s Breaking Bread Series which strives to connect small groups of students and community leaders to have lunch, share perspectives, foster connections, and build community and discuss contemporary issues.
