Policies are rules that are considered to be more temporary than a constitution and bylaws. Policies could be established for a specific time period, or in relation to a particular issue.
There are two types of policy, issues policy and operational policy. Issues policy outlines the official position of the Students’ Union on a particular issue or topic. An operational policy outlines how the internal processes of the Students’ Union are managed. For example, issues policy could state the Students’ Union’s support for “increased funding for students with disabilities,” where an operational policy could state: “All written reports will be double- sided.”
